Meet Mr. Kogge
I taught twenty-seven years here at HMS. I also teach a night class at Kellogg Community College. Prior to coming to Hastings, I spent 12 years in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain. While in the military, I worked in Missile Operations and Personnel. Some of the places where I was stationed in are, England, Japan (where I met my wife, Sumire), North Dakota, California, Arizona and Indiana. While in Japan, I learned to speak a little Japanese. We have also been able to travel to other countries in Europe and Asia.
I received my Bachelors Degree in Education, from the University of Akron (Ohio). From there, I went into the Air Force as an officer. I have also completed my Masters Degree in Personnel Management, from Central Michigan University and my Masters Degree in Education, from Western Michigan University. I have since completed graduate course work in education administration.
Among our many interests and hobbies are a wide variety of sports, which include Rugby (yes, I have really played it, at Akron and while in the military), football, outdoor activities, and sightseeing and travel, throughout Michigan, USA and the World. We also recently completed our goal of visiting all 50 states!
My personal philosophies are that learning can also be fun and that learning is a lifetime activity for everyone. Each student will have fun learning, THAT'S AN ORDER
